Alvan & Eleanor Lawrence brought their family to Polymeadows Farm in 1954 when Al got a job as farm manager of the Jersey dairy. They brought up their children, Wanda & Melvin, here.

The Lawrence Family
Melvin has spent most of his life working on this farm. Al & Eleanor bought Polymeadows in 1965 and continued to raise and milk Jerseys until Melvin took over in 1989.

In 2003 Alvan conserved the farm with the Vermont Land Trust to ensure that it would always remain in agriculture.

Jennifer and Melvin
Also in 2003, Melvin & Jennifer bought 150 baby goats to raise. We learned a lot about goats in the process & fell in love with them.

In 2005 the Jerseys left and Polymeadows became a goat dairy. We milked up to 200 goats and sold our quality milk to cheese plants, but our dream from the beginning was to make and market goat milk yogurt.
Hank moved to the farm in 2008 with his teenage daughter. He is such an invaluable member of our farm team, that we were finally able to work toward our original goal. Cherise is a college freshman as of fall 2011!!
